Meta announces plans to remove old Oculus accounts and associated games – here's how to proceed.

Act swiftly if you wish to retain your Oculus account, as Meta plans to delete all old accounts by March 29, as per The Verge.

Users affected by this change should have received an email notification from Meta.

The phasing out of Oculus accounts has been ongoing for years, so users should have been aware of this impending action.

Upon deletion, Oculus accounts will take with them apps, in-app purchases, store credits, achievements, friend lists, and created content, rendering them unusable for Meta Quest headsets.

Cutout

In 2020, new Meta VR users were required to log in with Facebook, and in 2022, Meta accounts were introduced as the primary means of accessing devices like the Meta Quest 3.

To preserve your Oculus account, convert it into a Meta account by visiting a designated web page and following the provided instructions.

All your games and data will seamlessly transfer over, and your Oculus account will be safely retired.

Meta offers a guide for transitioning to Meta accounts for users who need additional assistance.

While most users have likely already switched to Meta accounts since Oculus sign-ins were disabled last year, those with neglected Oculus accounts must update them before the deadline.

Some users who have migrated to Meta accounts may still receive warning emails; however, their data should remain intact if they have successfully made the switch previously.
