Samsung Continues Support for Tizen Smartwatches Despite End of Era

Samsung, a leading smartwatch pioneer, has supported Tizen-based watches since its early days.

The Galaxy Watch series debuted with Tizen OS in 2018, offering a preferred user experience over Wear OS.

Samsung's recent switch to Wear OS with the Galaxy Watch 4 has put Tizen watches in jeopardy.

Tizen watches will receive limited support until they are phased out entirely.

A Reddit user shared Samsung's termination plan for Tizen watch content on the Galaxy Store.

Paid Tizen watch content will cease to be available on the Galaxy Store by September 30, 2024.

New downloads of free Tizen content will be barred from May 31, 2025, onwards.

Access to previously downloaded Tizen content will end by September 30, 2025.

The termination plan affects all Samsung Gear and Galaxy watches running Tizen OS.

Wear OS watches, including the Galaxy Watch 4 and newer models, are not impacted by these changes.
